The need for an interdisciplinary approach to disability and inclusive processes issues cannot be conceived as an unusual subject in the current scientific debate. Nevertheless, the will for dialogue sometimes collides with a still broad distance among epistemic paradigms, languages and practices within the various domains of knowledge. From the outcomes of a recent research on identity development in the disabled person within the health care processes, it seems useful to enhance the exploration on the dialogue between Special Pedagogy and Medicine.
Through a pedagogical reading of the bio-psycho-social model of the ICF, this article aims to contribute in displaying some useful elements for the orientation of the medical practice towards the acknowledgment of the subjective and identity dimensions which characterize the existential expe-rience of the disabled person.
